Today is the last day of #meandD staycation š which means weāre back to adulthood tomorrow morning. Yes, itās all very bittersweet, but the true fact of the matter is this was one of the best weeks of my life.
To have this much time with the man of my dreams is a real gift š itās just wild that we can spend long periods like this together and never get sick of each other OR even get on each otherās nerves. I mean we didnāt really do a whole lot: hung around the house, loved on the dogs, played some putt-putt . . . AND you know what?! It was ALL a blast, because my partner in crime was beside my side. Oh, and I guess we did do a cleanse š which Iāll tell you about THAT experience on Monday. ANYWAY, this week also made me realize that as fun as I find all my projects day in and day out, D and our three fur babies is what matters most.
āWhat we want out of a vacation changes as we age. It changes from vacation to vacation. There was a time when it was all about culture for me. My idea of a real break was to stay in museums until my legs ached and then go stand in line to get tickets for an opera or a play. Later I became a disciple of relaxation and looked for words likeĀ beachĀ andĀ massageĀ when making my plans. I found those little paper umbrellas that balanced on the side of rum drinks to be deeply charming then. Now I strive for transcendent invisibility and the chance to accomplish the things I canāt get done at home. But as I pack up my room at the Hotel Bel-Air, I think the best vacation is the one that relieves me of my own life for a while and then makes me long for it again.ā ā Ann Patchett, āDo Not Disturb,ā in This Is the Story of a Happy Marriage
Well, thatās all Iāve got for you today š weāre headed outside to walk the pups!
