As I told you on Friday, #meandD have been VERY busy schedule-wise.
The morning after the ESPYS, we got up early [both of us not feeling so bright at 5:00 a.m.] to make the drive back to San Diego from L.A. in order for us to still attend Opening Day at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. Traffic was [thankfully] pretty non-existent at that hour, so we made it home in awesome time. In fact, D was even able to squeeze in a nap.
A couple hours later, our good friends, Matt & Leslie, arrived at our house, so we could all take the Coaster down together to Solana Beach for the free “race day” shuttle.
From the moment we stepped onto the train platform, I was completely flabbergasted as to what I was seeing. I honestly don’t know how else to put it, but it was like a slutty pandemic had swept the closets of the other women attending Opening Day. Now, I’m not talking about tight fitting dresses. I only WISH that was the case! No, I mean like Lawrence of a Labia [lol] like one wrong move and we ALL got to see the whole farm for free. Sorry to be oh-so blunt 🙂 but people, it was seriously what I was seeing.
Anyway . . .
(Me & D with our friends, Ryan & Kim)
Remember how last year we had such a tough time at the beginning of this day? Well, I’m happy to report that this go-around was much smoother. It wasn’t completely free of kinks, BUT we did manage to find our seats in ample time with smiles still on our faces. So, in comparison to last year, I definitely consider that a win-win. The rest of the day was filled with good company, champagne flutes galore, and lots of laughter. I even managed to win some extra bucks, basing my bets only on the horses’ names I liked 🙂 it drove D crazy [haha!] but I still won three of them just the same!

I know I already said this on Thursday’s #stylecrazed post, but I do really love getting dressed up for events like these. There’s just something special about feeling like a lady – to wear a fascinator in your hair, adorn a nice dress, and stand tall in a pair of good-looking pumps. I absolutely adore it and hope we can make this day happen each and every year. SO, mark those calendars, Matt and Leslie 😉
