A couple weeks ago, I received one of the best surprises in the mail = my very own Kit-Cat Clock!
I am about all things vintage and I guess my mother knows that better than anyone, as she’s the one that sent me this marvelous timekeeper. It’s currently hanging in our kitchen and has this homey tick-tock sound that I just adore. D says his it sort of freaks him out. [HA!] Either way, though 😉 it’s one of those perfect finishing pieces and makes the space seem complete. If you’re not familiar with Kit-Cat Clocks, they have been around for over 80 years now. During the height of The Great Depression, a designer by of the name, Earl Arnault, first created this contraption in a small Oregon town. With its wagging, signature tail, rolling eyes, and contagious smile, this clock inspired joy as America went through one of its roughest patches AND experienced explosive popularity in the 40s and 50s. I also love it because its been always been made right here in the U.S. of A. since it’s inception and has kept the same look the entire time! How cool is that?!
