There are many reasons why I love being an upholstery artist = working with my hands, utilizing my creative brain, pushing my trade to new standards . . . the list could definitely go on 😉 however, my absolute favorite is using my talents as a gift, ESPECIALLY when it’s for people dear to my heart.

HB-Before-&-After-Allison's-Rocking-Chair

Shortly after my girlfriend, Allison Andrews, announced that she was expecting her first child in January of 2016, I quickly offered up my services to her and her husband, Elliot, as a baby shower gift. This is the rocking chair I reupholstered for them; a family heirloom with the right amount of character but in need of a little updating. I opted for new cushion foam and recovered both it and the inside seat in a light pink fabric chosen by the mother. I then elected to pair it with a vintage print I had on hand for the welting. The thought behind this addition is to pay homage to its vintage while ALSO giving it that extra piece of pizzazz my work is usually known for.

What do YOU think of this rocking chair‘s transformation? It’s been a little over two months since I delivered it back to its rightful home, but I’m still pretty stoked with the results 🙂 PLUS, I’m glad I finished it when I did, because their daughter, Bentley [who’s original due date was today] decided to come on New Year’s Eve instead. How cool is that?!
