Last Friday, I had the insane honor of doing an INSTAGRAM TAKEOVER for The San Diego Museum of Art, and WOW, I had THEE best time = not only was I given the opportunity to checkout the Museum’s permanent collection galleries and current exhibitions, but I was also able to view their famed Sculpture Garden, shop their Museum Store AND eat lunch at the Museum’s restaurant, Panama 66 ???? ALL THE WHILE sharing my experience with y’all on my phone via their INSTASTORIES. How rad is that?! I had complete free-range to explore the entire Museum by myself and even managed to mimicked some fine pieces of art along the way 😉 haha! Can someone say #MuseumSelfie?! Thus, today I thought it might be fun to do a little highlight recap for y’all with the pictures from this priceless experience ???? ENJOY!

From the moment I walked through the Museum’s doors, I was filled with such creative excitement . . .

To be in a building that houses some of the world’s most finest artwork – right before my very eyes!

I was especially drawn to this oil on board painting by Alexej von Jawlensky called Red Blossom [above] I loved his bold use of both primary and secondary colors in its creation. Very powerful stuff. You can see it for yourself in SDMA‘s German Expressionism exhibition located in Gallery 11 on their main [first] floor.

The biggest highlight of my day ⬆ unknowingly getting to see a Frank Stella piece ???? I guess you can check that off my bucket list!! So, so good. Man, if only I could have one of his works in our home. Sigh.

And then of course if you tell a #stylecrazed gal that there’s a place to go shopping, I’M THERE! Lol.

Then there’s those #MuseumSelfie‘s I was typing you about earlier ???? seriously, if you ever find yourself losing steam at an exhibition [or are maybe at a museum with someone who isn’t so keen on going to museums] try this made-up game for some young-at-heart entertainment; usually does the trick ????

PLUS it’s fun AND also makes for some good pics to post on the ole Instagram!

SO MUCH INSPIRING ARTWORK!! I might need to take a painting or sculpture class now or something.

As you can see by the handful of pictures I shared here in this little highlight recap, a stupendously delightful time was had by your four-eye-wearing, nerdy girl! If you haven’t seen the The San Diego Museum of Art for yourself, I highly recommend a visit next time you’re in the Balboa Park area. It’s open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. everyday except on Sunday’s, which hours are then from NOON to 5 p.m. and they are closed on Wednesday’s. BUT if you’re like me and want to get out and do something fun and different on a Friday, well, you can visit the Museum “Art After Hours” for only $5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at night! Doesn’t that sound fun?! OR you can stay tuned to my Instagram this week and possibly win a DUAL MEMBERSHIP to SDMA too. It’s up to you, but either way, GO SEE The San Diego Museum of Art!
