This past weekend, Me and D had the honor of hosting our first formal sit-down dinner in our new home.

The entire meal was themed around “Thanksgiving” and was a creative way for us to come together in a holiday-like atmosphere with some of our closest “couple” friends to celebrate life and all of our good fortune.

Besides eating that always delicious “Thanksgiving” food, I was also [OF COURSE] overjoyed with the opportunity to decorate our Herman Miller dining room table for the fall-esque festivities.

I wanted the tablescape to have the traditional Turkey Day‘s decor while also reflecting Me and D’s unique individual style. I accomplished this by purchasing real gourds from Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center and pulling from the colors of our iridescent flatware from CB2, which included navy, orange, purple and green. I threw in the rose gold pumpkin napkin rings just because, well, you know how much this lady loves her copper!

Besides having to throw our first-attempt of a fried turkey in the oven for an hour, I am proud to say that the entire gathering was a happy time well spent = we ate, we laughed, and even managed to play Liar’s Dice with a group of ten people!

Me and D are so very lucky to have these individuals in our life together. They are each so very dear to our hearts. Our “California” family I guess one could say. Either way, my cup runneth over!

I think it’s safe to say that the Pilants’ have a new yearly tradition = Couplesgiving! 😉 Thank you to Matt & Leslie, Allison, Elliot & Bentley, Rick & Vanessa, and Scott & Maria for taking the time out of your Sunday to spend it with us in our home. The afternoon is a memory I will always cherish and let’s do it again next year!

P.S. — Sorry there isn’t any pictures of the food. Truth be told I was a little flustered about the turkey and totally spaced grabbing that photo :/ there’s always next year though! Lol.
